Assistive Technology Training & Apprenticeship
Strong assistive technology skills don’t just make tasks possible—they make you faster, more effective, and ready for new career paths. BALANCE for Blind Adults is a Toronto-based agency that offers training across Ontario on the tools that matter most, from mobile and computer-based screen-readers and magnification tools to commonly used videoconferencing and AI platforms.

Skills That Open Doors
Assistive technology is woven into nearly every modern workplace task—writing emails, navigating digital platforms, managing documents, participating in virtual meetings, or using emerging AI tools to support communication and productivity. Even if you can complete these tasks without assistive technology, learning the right tools can make your work faster, more accurate, and more independent. In a job market that is changing quickly, staying current with assistive technology strengthens your confidence and expands the kinds of roles you can pursue.
If you’re looking for personalized guidance, BALANCE for Blind Adults is one organization that offers assistive technology training across Ontario.

Program Spotlight: Assistive Technology Apprenticeship Program

In addition to the training supports offered to jobseekers, BALANCE for Blind Adults runs a selective Assistive Technology (AT) Apprenticeship program that develops future AT professionals with lived and professional experience in blindness and partial sight. This apprenticeship—made possible through support from the CIBC Foundation—strengthens the ecosystem that jobseekers rely on by expanding access to skilled trainers who understand the realities of working while blind or partially sighted.
The program serves a very small cohort at a time and is designed for individuals with specific technical and instructional backgrounds. It is not an open application program, and resumes are not accepted through this website. When recruitment occurs, it is shared directly through our BALANCE for Blind Adults website.
